Poster Submission Guidelines

 

 

 

All individuals who register for the From Bench to Bus Stop: Building HIV Research Collaborations in Philadelphia Conference are encouraged to submit an abstract or multiple abstracts for a poster presentation to be given during the afternoon poster session during the conference on January 26, 2016 at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia.  The poster session is intended to facilitate interactions among researchers from different institutions and government agencies across Philadelphia to produce a collaborative research agenda for future applications.  A poster presentation provides researchers with an opportunity to share and highlight their important contributions to HIV/AIDS research.

NOTE:  The number of abstract submissions is not limited.


 

 

All poster abstracts and contact information will be printed in the conference compendium.  In order to assist with organizing the posters in a coherent manner, each submitting author is asked to select a track category for each poster abstract and to follow the abstract structure outlined below.

 

Scientific Track Category: Please select one of the following scientific tracks that best represents the research in your abstract:

 

Basic Scientific Research

Clinical Research

Epidemiology/Surveillance 

Social and Behavioral Science

 

 

Abstract Structure: Please organize the text of the abstract according to the following IAS Abstract Guidelines:

  • Background: indicate the purpose and objective of the research, the hypothesis that was tested or a description of the problem being analyzed or evaluated.

  • Methods: describe the study period / setting / location, study design, study population, data collection and methods of analysis used.

  • Results: present as clearly and as much in detail as possible the findings / outcome of the study, Please summarize any specific results.

  • Conclusions: explain the significance of your findings / outcomes of the study for HIV prevention, treatment, care and/or support, and future implications of the results.

  •  

NOTE: Abstracts should disclose primary findings and should avoid promissory statements such as “experiments are in progress” or “results will be discussed”.    

All abstracts will be reviewed to make sure:

  •  There a clear background and justified objective

  •  The methodology/study design is appropriate for the objectives

  •  The results are important and clearly presented

  •  The conclusions are supported by the results

  •  The study is original and it contributes to the field

 

Font
Use a standard font, e.g. Arial, when formatting the text in order to avoid special characters from getting lost when copying the text to the online abstract submission form. Please review the final abstract before submission.

Word Limits
The abstract text body is limited to 350 words. Titles are limited to 30 words.

 

Submission Confirmation
After submission of the abstract, a confirmation email will be sent to the abstract submitter. In order to receive confirmation, please ensure that emails from hivphillyresearch@gmail.com are not marked as spam by your e-mail provider. 

 

Notification of Acceptance or Rejection to Corresponding Author

Each submitting (corresponding) author will be notified via email of abstract acceptance or rejection by the end of the first week of January. Please inform all co-authors of the status of the abstract. Instructions for the poster presentation will be sent to authors of accepted abstracts.
